Jul 17, 2010 - @fsx757rules thats not the APU its called a PTU Power Transfer Unit. The PTU transfers power between the yellow and the green hydraulic system without exchange of liquids by means of two pistons. If one system has a lower pressure then the other one, then this piston starts working and pressurizes the other system. So if the yellow system is on, but the green is off, and you want to operate smth which is powered with the green system, the PTU translers power from the yellow to the green one;)

Jul 9, 2010 - the noise from 5.08 onwards is the APU starting

Jul 7, 2010 - @rubeno88 Hey dude The noise you hear at 8:41 is the APU (Auxilary power unit) This is a power unit used when the engines are off. This will power the lights on the airplane and give the airplane a source of electricity. This will get turned on when the airplane has landed. The noise is the swith over. You will also hear this when the airplanes engines are starting up. You can hear the power unit with the same noise when it is going to be getting powered by the engines. Hope it helps :)

Apr 30, 2010 - @jackd166 It's Engine 2 shut down. It makes that noise for some reason but when aircraft land they normally switch one engine off to save fuel.
planeboy737 Says:
Apr 30, 2010 - @jackd166 The sound you heard is the notorious barking caused by the Pneumatic Transfer Unit. It is active when only one of the hydraulic circuits is pressurized and serves to equalize pressure. And yes, it is quite normal.

qwertyguy76 Says:
Apr 2, 2010 - @jackd166 That barking noise is the PTU of the airbus, its bassically an electricity system/hydraulic power
